The 2013 Ford Flex receives a minor cosmetic change for the new model year, but still remains wonderfully unique on the road.
The 2013 Ford Flex’s base model is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that pumps out 285 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. There is also an EcoBoost version available which has 355-horsepower and adds extra gas mileage. All-wheel drive is standard. Ford took measure to make the drive quieter by wrapping the shock towers and rear wheelhouses with sound absorbers.
On the exterior, the front “nose” is more streamlined while the rest of the crossover still shows off the boxy frame that has made it famous. The front fascia now has a single chrome band with skinny headlamps set within darkened surrounds. The contrasting colored roof, in white and or silver, is an available standalone option. A black roof is part of the Appearance Package that also adds 20-inch machined wheels and more interior upgrades.
Ford is happy to announce that the 2013 Ford Flex receives an updated version of the MyFord Touch in its options. The new system provides quicker responses and larger, clearer display screens. Push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, and power tilt/ telescoping steering are just a few of the other available convenience features.
The 2013 Ford Flex follows Ford’s safety concerns for both passengers and those around them. Adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake intervention, blind- spot monitors, and inflatable rear seatbelts are all optional features.
Remaining largely unchanged for the 2013 model year, the Ford Flex is a quirky crossover vehicle that really stands out.
